The power shift transmission has been developed for Diesel locomotive and railway motorcar, and shall consist of torque converter, gear mechanism and hydraulic multi-disc clutch. The transmission shall be of counter shaft construction, so reduction gear ratio required for railway motorcar can easily be obtained.


  • Both ahead and astern are equipped with the same number of stages for changing speed.
  • Hydraulic multi-disc brake can be incorporated in order to enable low speed running for railway maintenance and wiring service.
  • The transmission can be equipped with a lock-up clutch to increase high speed running performance and power transmission efficiency.
  • Hydraulic retarder system can be fitted in order to upgrade brake function during running on the steep downward slopes and reduce wearing down of brake shoe.
